What a day! Despite a jam-packed weekend of Hills Alive, Spearfish Art in the Park, and other Black Hills happenings—not to mention the looming threat of storms (which thankfully never arrived)—59 amazing people and their pups showed up to strut their stuff for a pawsome cause.

Together, we raised $5,000, beating last year’s total with even fewer participants! That’s the power of a generous and passionate community. 💚

🎶 A huge THANK YOU to Lost Cabin Beer Co. for hosting us for the third year in a row, and to Stephanie and her awesome crew for making it all possible. A special round of a-paws for brewer Matthew Teeslink, who not only served up delicious brews but also rocked the mic with live music—including a spontaneous, crowd-favorite version of "Who Let the Dogs Out" (which he’d never played before but totally nailed)!

Jake’s Fund, which covers Pennington County, was started in March 2022, shortly after the passing of board member, Diana Day’s sweet dog, Jake. They wanted to honor his memory in a way that helped others facing similar heartbreak. After a tearful conversation with Founder, Kelly Harnett, they knew they’d found the right partner. Since then, Jake’s Fund has helped 25 families in Pennington County, awarding more than $8,000 in grants. Collectively, Hobo’s Fund and Jake’s Fund have provided over $62,000 in assistance to more than 200 families. That’s a legacy Jake would be proud of—and so are we.
