What a Day! 2025 0.5K Crow Peak Challenge Recap
On Sunday, April 27, 2025 our incredible community showed up and showed out at the 2025 0.5K Crow Peak Challenge—raising an unbelievable $10,554 to help local families facing the heartbreak of emergency veterinary crises. With 130 compassionate souls in attendance, the day was packed with love, laughter, and, yes, plenty of wagging tails.
We had the privilege of honoring two remarkable men with the Hobo’s Legacy Award—a tribute to unwavering dedication that spans a decade. Fritz Carlson, who has been with us since our very first event in September 2015, has never failed to show up—with cones for the course, water for our furry racers, and a heart as big as the Black Hills. John Costello, our incredible auctioneer, has also stood by our side since 2015. Thanks to his talent and generosity, we’ve raised over $40,000 at our live auctions—money that has directly helped save lives.
And speaking of generosity: one of the true highlights of the day was seeing the coveted Shawn Funk Crow Peak Mug sell for an astounding $2,800! A heartfelt thank you to everyone who bid and made that moment unforgettable.
Because of people like Fritz, John, and you, 2025 is already shaping up to be a record-breaking year for the pets and families we serve. But as the need grows, so must our ability to respond.
Right now, we’re asking each of you to consider a small but mighty commitment: $10 a month. If just 100 of our supporters sign up, that’s an additional $12,000 a year—funds that could mean the difference between hope and heartbreak for dozens of families.
