A Decade of Compassion: Celebrating Hobo's Healing Heart

Dear Friends and Cherished Supporters,

On behalf of everyone at Hobo's Healing Heart, I want to extend my heartfelt gratitude to each and every one of you for joining us at the 2024 0.5K Challenge and 10-year anniversary celebration. Despite the weather's best efforts, we were blessed with the presence of 154 wonderful individuals and their furry companions, all united in our mission to make a difference.

Together, we achieved something truly remarkable. Through your generosity and dedication, we raised an incredible $6,645, which will go directly towards helping families in the Black Hills region facing financial hardship with emergency veterinary care costs and cremation services. Your support ensures that no beloved companion is ever denied the care and dignity they deserve, even in the most challenging of circumstances.

But our journey doesn't end here. In fact, as we mark this significant milestone, we are reminded of the work that still lies ahead. That's why we're excited to announce the upcoming online raffle of a beautiful Santa Maria Grill, generously fabricated and donated by Iron Side Fabrication and Munro Earthmoving and General Contracting. Stay tuned for details on how you can participate and continue supporting our cause.

In addition to the raffle, we have some exciting upcoming events that we'd love for you to join us at:

  1. Don't Get Lost 0.5K Challenge at Lost Cabin: Sunday, July 28th at Lost Cabin Beer Co starting at 12pm.

  2. Dog Walking Dead 0.5K Prairie Berry Challenge: Sunday, October 13th at Prairie Berry Winery and Miner Brewing Co starting at 12pm.

Don't forget to bring your race bib to each event to win the Trifecta Award!

Reflecting on the past ten years fills us with immense pride and gratitude. From our humble beginnings, we've grown and evolved, thanks to the unwavering support of our community. Together, we've become a beacon of hope and compassion for pet owners in need, touching countless lives and making a tangible difference in our community.

As we look to the future, we do so with hope and anticipation. We invite you to join us in shaping the next chapter of Hobo's Healing Heart by becoming part of our event planning committee. Together, we can elevate our fundraising efforts and extend our reach, ensuring that our mission continues to thrive for years to come.

Before I conclude, I want to extend a special thank you to the sponsors of this year's 0.5K Trifecta Challenge. Your unwavering support has been instrumental in our success, and we are truly grateful for your generosity.

Additionally, I am delighted to announce the recipients of this year's Hobo's Healing Heart Legacy Award: Carolyn Ferrell, Jeff Drumm, and the Crow Peak Brewing Company Family. Their ten years of dedication, support, and kindness have not gone unnoticed, and we are deeply grateful for everything they have done to further our mission. Congratulations, and thank you for being such incredible partners, not just with us, but within the Black Hills.

In closing, let us reaffirm our commitment to the noble endeavor of assisting those in need. Together, we have the power to create lasting impact, leaving a trail of compassion with each step we take, one paw print at a time.

With deepest gratitude and warmest regards,

Kelly L. Harnett, Founder & President

and the Hobo’s Healing Heart Board of Directors:

Andrea Bakeberg, Bobbi Aune, Diana Day, Erica Harvey, and Penny Thompson
